Let's face it. You love the film Speed Racer more than anyone else.
Where is Kristen Stewart, aka the most beautiful, hypnotic, earnest, true, intense, authentic, soulful, mesmerizing, achingly stunning and original female performer in the *entire history of the Cinema*, a female Brando or Dean -- only with the face of early Johansson only a TRILLION times sexier and more jaw-dropping?
I see absolutely everything she does, usually multiple times, and most of the runtime my jaw is on the floor for the entirety, that someone could be so talented and so beautiful all at once.
I've never been more in love with any actress, ever, in nearly 40 years of film fanaticism.
Rewatching Sunset Boulevard recently for my next convo with Jason Bellamy, I was really struck by Nancy Olson, whose character I always forget about in retrospect (there's so much scenery-chewing competition in that movie!) but who is actually really great in it, and does indeed have a distinctive, fresh-faced look. Such an unusual face for someone who stills projects such an ordinary, girl-next-door vibe.
At the other end of the spectrum, Mara Corday's a lot of fun to watch in Tarantula.
Peter! :) I'm pretty sure it's not true, but that's a statement I will cop to, regardless! (Unless you're saying that I love Speed Racer more than I love anyone else, 'cause I know of several humans I think more highly of than I do that movie.)
LXGPower: Who is this Kristen Stewart of which you speak? Surely not the one who faded in the real-life shadow of the saucy '80s rocker Joan Jett? ;)
Ed: Wow, are you right. I only knew Nancy Olson as Fred MacMurray's long-suffering wife in Son of Flubber when I first saw Sunset Boulevard, but you're so right-- she seems like such an oasis of sanity in Wilder's nightmare vision of Hollywood, and she's really, really good in the movie. Usually such straight-arrow performances don't do so well in the midst of such histrionic competition (from the lead actress AND the director, in this case), but she deepens Wilder's masterpiece considerably, I think.
I love Mara Corday in Tarantula too. Shes also really good with Dale Robertson and Jock Mahoney in the Universal-International western A Day of Fury.
I love the passion of L XGPOWER.
I should have proofread myself, Dennis. I know that no film would be more important to you than Patty and the girls.
Kristen Davis is a very pretty lady. I just wish she'd do something that I gave a shit about.
Also, hi, Dennis!
