"A DISSERVICE TO CINEMA": MARTIN SCORSESE WRITES TO SAVE THE LACMA FILM PROGRAM

Martin Scorsese has joined the effort to preserve the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's film exhibition program, which is scheduled to cease on October 17. Read the letter Scorsese wrote to LACMA director Michael Govan, in which he describes his own history with the program, its importance for future generations, and how shutting it down would be nothing less than "a disservice to cinema," and if you haven't yet signed the petition at Save Film @ LACMA, please consider doing so.

(Thanks to David Hudson at The Auteurs Daily for passing along this link to the Los Angeles Times's ongoing coverage of this issue.)

Happy to see Scorsese get behind this. Thanks, Dennis, for keeping this going in the ether.

I was glad to read the piece, and learn of the good result.

But why the photo of the Fonz?
