RAY DENNIS STECKLER 1938-2009



Over at Pop Matters, Bill Gibron remembers and appreciates the life and career of Ray Dennis Steckler, cult filmmaker responsible for The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-up Zombies, who died January 7 at the age of 70.

Sorry to hear that. I actually own the Lemon Grove Kids video - a friend gave it to me when he upgraded to DVD - which he got from Cash Flagg himself at his Vegas video store (?).

It is stunnimgly unfunny, and has a Coleman Francis cameo, but still... There are little scenes of women and kids in sunny 1970s LA backyards that are quite charming. Very bad cinema but great home movies.

He had little talent and less budget, but he seemed like he would be a great guy, and I'm glad I've seen so many of hims movies.
