Heston is wonderful on the subject of just how annoying it could be to work with a big screen diva like Gardner or Loren. But--Heston himself was no slouch in the diva department. So reading this example of unreliable narration is its own sort of mental workout, and I can't help thinking Shawn is alluding to that, too.

And the cookie line is priceless. The Sirenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13587505433284584391noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-26360876849211991362009-03-31T15:25:00.000-07:002009-03-31T15:25:00.000-07:00I have one of my dad trying to mess up the audio b...I have one of my dad trying to mess up the audio by singing along with the theme from Mannix.

I'd like to hear Larry do this on a podcast, if he has time between switching blogs.Greghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05730146625671701859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-45587758465397009932009-03-31T15:19:00.000-07:002009-03-31T15:19:00.000-07:00Do those tapes include the requisite background no...Do those tapes include the requisite background noise of your parents reacting in horror?

I have one of my dad trying to mess up the audio by singing along with the theme from Mannix.

And as for Larry, some people are ahead of their time; some are ahead of the curve; and then there's the completely unique state of Being Larry Aydlette, starring John Cusack and Cameron Diaz!Dennis Cozzaliohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01954848938471883431noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-19650402040222624442009-03-31T15:16:00.000-07:002009-03-31T15:16:00.000-07:00By the way, I still have at my parents house an ol...By the way, I still have at my parents house an old tape of the juicier phrases from The Exorcist.

As well as a tape of Richard Pryor's Exorcist routine.Greghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05730146625671701859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-28440233163691697932009-03-31T15:14:00.000-07:002009-03-31T15:14:00.000-07:00I saw My Dinner With Andre in 1962 in Greensboro, ...I saw My Dinner With Andre in 1962 in Greensboro, N.C

Larry saw My Dinner with Andre 18 years before it was released.

That guy never fails to impress me.Greghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05730146625671701859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-81447154970070409862009-03-30T18:11:00.000-07:002009-03-30T18:11:00.000-07:00Isn't that the psychoactive agent of cannabis?Isn't that the psychoactive agent of cannabis?Ryan Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18054550377681273142noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-26750234355489461652009-03-30T18:10:00.000-07:002009-03-30T18:10:00.000-07:00What's a VCR?What's a VCR?Ryan Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18054550377681273142noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-66596077750837445342009-03-30T17:43:00.000-07:002009-03-30T17:43:00.000-07:00I remember taping old shows of All In The Family o...I remember taping old shows of All In The Family on a reel-to-reel tape recorder. When I was a kid, whenever something came on TV (or arrived at the drive-in) that I knew I'd want to re-experience, I was at the ready with my trusty tape recorder. I still have tapes of my first experience watching Horse Feathers on a channel out of Portland-- no laugh track needed!-- as well as Blazing Saddles at the local drive-in (complete with some choice drive-in related ambient noise and vintage snack bar alert) and a recording made at a multiplex during the fall 1977 re-release of Carrie of that movie's shocker of an ending (all screams for real). Many other movies were taped too, though I can't be sure any of them have survived. It is kind of amazing, this pre-VCR world... The whole idea of the film -- a movie about two guys just talking over dinner? -- intrigued me enough that when it aired on PBS a year or so later, I sat in front of the TV set to watch it with a tape recorder and a microphone so that I could listen to it again whenever I wanted. The things that movie fans would do in the days before VCRs!

I'm so excited that Criterion is puting this movie out, but somehow I don't know if the experience of watching it on DVD will compare to lying in bed and listening to those old Maxell tapes over and over again.Paul Matwychukhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01917384620564525389noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-71468987826491703642009-03-28T07:35:00.000-07:002009-03-28T07:35:00.000-07:00Great freakin film!!!Great freakin film!!!multi monitorshttp://www.multi-monitors.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-53224660600267935272009-03-27T23:25:00.000-07:002009-03-27T23:25:00.000-07:00Funny.
