It sounds pretty wonderful. As a collector of books aimed at introducing children to film history, do you have any others you'd recommend? Your list is one that I, as the father of two daughters (half Japanese daughters, by the way), would love to peruse.Dennis Cozzaliohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01954848938471883431noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-7907994495584406842009-07-02T06:53:55.692-07:002009-07-02T06:53:55.692-07:00Ordered it yesterday, Dennis. Between this review and that picture of Wong eyeing Lon Chaney with disconcertment, I'm double-excited.

For those particularly concerned with the matter of inspiring young Asian-American girl cubs (of probably 8-10-year-old reading level) -- or, oh, say, any grown-ups interested in the historical Dodgers -- do investigate Bette Bao Lord's very funny classic IN THE YEAR OF THE BOAR AND JACKIE ROBINSON.Chris Stanglhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06300723935864517305noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-62018686849335493532009-07-02T01:00:23.445-07:002009-07-02T01:00:23.445-07:00Liked the video.Liked the video.Joehttp://www.debtreliefexchange.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-43949222018345406122009-07-01T15:44:57.764-07:002009-07-01T15:44:57.764-07:00Paula, it is my pleasure. It was really nice to read a book for young readers that really took their sophistication as a matter of course. And you did an exceptional job distilling a complicated life down for your audience without making Wong's journey feel sketchy, while leaving plenty of room for enthusiastic readers to take their investigation further. Thank you for a book very well done.

leOpard13: Go get it. I think they'll be intrigued at the very least.

Peter: I have never regretted taking you up on your recommendations, so thanks again for steering us toward what sounds like a very good companion to Piccadilly or anything other Wong film from this period.Dennis Cozzaliohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01954848938471883431noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-10556937273613350102009-07-01T15:36:04.780-07:002009-07-01T15:36:04.780-07:00Thank you so much for your kind words. Anna May Wong is the real life character in this fictional story, making an appearance in Hong Kong. The reverence accorded to her anticipates another American actor who was better appreciated in Hong Kong - Bruce Lee.Peter Nellhaushttp://www.coffeecoffeeandmorecoffee.comnoreply@blogger.com
