Of course, it also guaranteed that it would be an interesting film, but you can't have your cake and eat it, too. I once compared Scott Pilgrim to L'avventura, due to their emphasis on the inability of humans to connect with each other as a result of their glaring personal issues. Scott Pilgrim and L'avventura, two films cut from the same cloth. It's good that you gave it a second chance, although perhaps it would have been funny if you had disparaged the film and angered Edgar to the point where he stormed off and left. Art imitating life! I hope your own confession of 'not getting it', if you don't mind the expression, will perhaps help others see the film in a more enjoyable context.
