All my original encounters with the films of Herzog, Wenders, Fassbinder, and a lot of the main staples of classic Hollywood cinema, occurred there. And my first straight-up porn movie too-- Were they still showing Behind the Green Door every weekend at midnight when you were there? Whew. The audience itself was a hoot. I loved that place, and I loved the hand-scribed calendars too. I've tried but have yet to come up with much in the way of old calendars from there, either online or in the real world. That would really be a treasure to discover, wouldn't it?Dennis Cozzaliohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01954848938471883431noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-53366370153534021642011-07-10T21:35:06.406-07:002011-07-10T21:35:06.406-07:00What a love letter to our home state! I got to spit up blueberries and cottage cheese in the pie-eating contest barf-o-rama fantasy sequence of "Stand By Me," which I landed with the help of former UO student turned Hollywood professional. It wasn't Katherine Wilson, with whom I was acquainted, but she was, of course, there on the set and I spoke with her a bit.

I went to the UO from 1983-1987 and I spent a lot of time at Cinema 7, where I became good friends with the owner, Steve Bove. I would bring 16mm prints of films from campus for private showings, just three or four of us in that cozy little theater. Lots of great memories there...seanaxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10106047444251200851noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-9194875884839404692011-07-05T11:20:56.080-07:002011-07-05T11:20:56.080-07:00We were interested to read all these comments and ...We were interested to read all these comments and learn some anecdotal history of film-making experiences in Oregon.

Oregon Film OfficeUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14060084272477667197noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-39900817762521222472011-07-03T22:20:06.720-07:002011-07-03T22:20:06.720-07:00But I will say I may have been at that Invasion of...But I will say I may have been at that Invasion of the Body Snatchers screening. We never took the time to verify if what he said was true, but an older gentleman came to the screening of The General, named "Buster" Stroud, with the claim that he was the one actually operating the train.Peter Nellhaushttp://www.coffeecoffeeandmorecoffee.comnoreply@blogger.com
