I remember Dante as being very affable and modest, which of course made me like him better...and I remember seeing Leonard Maltin and his wife coming in, looking excited to be there (could be projection on my part). Ah, my nerdness knows no bounds. Dang, I wish I'd known Boretime was free this weekend! Mrs. B. and I just watched our DVD of "Close Encounters of the..." tonight, since we'd determined we weren't up for AMC's broadcast of the Alastair Sim "Christmas Carol" quite so early in December.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-1133761964829160632005-12-04T21:52:00.000-08:002005-12-04T21:52:00.000-08:00Remember when we went to see Dante at AMPAS lectur...Remember when we went to see Dante at AMPAS lecture about horror films? I very clearly remember nervously asking him something about Explorers, which I still love, and most vividly I recall him stopping mid-lecture to take advantage of the fact that he had this gigantic, beautiful silver screen in back of him and, instead of the regular bunch of clips he had been showing, deciding to take a thematic breather and show the ending of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly , which, as it turned out, was the very first time I ever saw a frame of that movie the way it was intended-- in Techniscope on a big, wide screen. Thanks, Mr. Dante! Oh, and by the way, a fellow blogger named Peter Nellhaus revealed on GreenCine Daily this weekend that Showtime (or Boretime, as you more accurately refer to it) was free this weekend to cable and, I presume, satellite subscribers. I think I preferred my ignorance. See, some of the things you miss when your Internet access is snatched away by a power outage (as mine was this weekend) are better left missed. But others are not-- off I go to the "King Kong Trailer" post to catch up on your encounter with Mr. Plissken!Dennis Cozzaliohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01954848938471883431noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-1133554485944212482005-12-02T12:14:00.000-08:002005-12-02T12:14:00.000-08:00Urrghhh...that looks really good. Guess I'll have to wait for DVD, too, as I don't have Boretime.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
