The sound fx were probably mixed in later, or "faked" as some commentators have said elsewhere.

It may have been (a bit) safer to do it that way and a gyro platform for the camera would have kept it stable when the bike leant over..... Other than that it IS a great film, as entertainment and a simple idea executed perfectly.......Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-1117783514920580682005-06-03T00:25:00.000-07:002005-06-03T00:25:00.000-07:00Your piece on C'était un rendezvous is the most in...Your piece on C'était un rendezvous is the most intelligent thing I've read on the film.

In all the comment I've seen posted, however, no one has considered the possibility that this is not a car at all, but a motorbike. Certainly the engine sounds and gear changes fit the theory, and it would also explain other things too, e.g. why passersby don't jump out of the way, why the vehicle can negotiate such tight spaces (when it passes the dustcart, e.g.). Also, at some of the turns, the camera's distance from the ground varies, which would happen if a motorbike were tilting as it turned, but wouldn't happen with a car.

Given Lelouch's capacity for bluff and self-aggrandisement, I can certainly imagine him keeping such a truth quiet, and preferring to have the vehicle pass for his Ferrari.

One objection might be the two headlights we see reflected against walls, but surely there were bikes at the time with two headlamps rather than one?

I'd like to know what you think.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-1113544098237754732005-04-14T22:48:00.000-07:002005-04-14T22:48:00.000-07:00What a fascinating piece of writing! I'm very curious to see it for myself now, though I suspect I'll find I enjoyed your essay more.
BruceAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8795280.post-1113374566136701242005-04-12T23:42:00.000-07:002005-04-12T23:42:00.000-07:00Beautiful review! I'll try to find the DVD.Matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04977662030208589392noreply@blogger.com
